ABOUT LEWIS MARTIN
Lewis Martin is a French director, screenwriter, director of photography, novelist, publisher, and visual artist. For over 40 years, he’s moved between film, television, and books with a not-so-secret obsession for rhythm, atmosphere… and, when needed, action that hits hard.
On the film side, he’s carved out a niche in action series and fight choreography: he has shaped the look and punch of action sequences shot across Asia and Africa, alongside world-class martial arts champions (Mike Tyson, Seydina Baldé, Jean-Marc Mineo, John Foo, Buakaw Banchamek), and with stunt and action teams linked to major productions such as Fast & Furious, Peaky Blinders, and A Thousand Blows.
His short film Talking Dog For Sale, 10 Euros (Canal+) was shortlisted for the 85th Academy Awards®. Since 2018, he has been part of the directing team on the long-running French series Plus Belle La Vie.
He founded the Paris-based publishing house Monumental Books and publishes urban fantasy author Alice Rose McQueen. As an author, he writes action thrillers (the Blaze MacLeod series) and cozy mysteries: Ladies, Lies & Little Murders follows reporter Violette Darc in 1950s France, while Penny McBride tackles razor-sharp investigations in Victorian Scotland—witty enough to scandalize the drawing rooms and dark enough to ruin the tea.
A street artist and pop-art painter known as VHS, exhibited internationally, he also designs his own covers. A Scottish lord by marriage (yes, really), he splits his time between France and Scotland—under the stern supervision of three chihuahuas: Ramona, Chiquita, and Escobar.
